He lived with Joe Maciejewski here in Ashland, Wisconsin until he was able to find work with Joe Maciejewski's help, then saved some money to get his own place to live. Joseph Maciejewski's parents were: Jacob Maciejewski (Born in Gbyzeu Russia Poland) whom married AUTOUINA BLASZKOWSKA. They had a son together, whom is Joseph Maciejewski born in 1870. This is the Joseph Maciejewski that brought Ben Blaszkowski to America. We kind of think Autouina (Blaszkowska) Maciejewski may have been Ben Blaszkowski's Grandmother and that possibly Jacob Maciejewski was Ben's Grandfather. ????? Ben Blaszkowski then came to Ashland, Wisconsin
where later in life he married. His wife's maiden name was Bernice

they were farmers, and they raised 5 children, Ben passed away in
Ashland, Wisconsin on 01-05-1968. This is also where he is buried.

Taken From the Duluth New Tribune News Paper: Dated April 14, 1959 FATAL ASHLAND FARM FIRE PROBE BEGUN A investigation is under way to determine the cause of the farm home fire early yesterday in Bayfield County, eight miles southwest of Ashland, Wisconsin which wiped out a family of four. This was announced here last night at the office of Ellsworth Embertson, Bayfield County Sheriff. Dear are: Walter Maciejewski, 43 his wife Jean 33, and their children. Walter Jr. 11, and Toni Lynn 4. Their bodies were recovered from the ruins of their two-story frame home which burned to the round. It is believed suffocation caused their deaths. The bodies were burned almost beyond recognition. Fire was notice by a passing motorist on nearby highway 2 but the flames were too far advanced to be checked by the time help could be obtained. The Maciejewski farm is on highway 112, four miles east of old highway 63. The bodies were removed from the ruins by Sheriff Embertson, Under Sheriff Ronald Flones and Corner Clarence Zanto with the aid of Ashland firemen. The bodies are at the Shafer-Wartman Funeral Home, Ashland, where funeral arrangements are being completed. Sheriff Embertson said all of the bodies were found at about the same spot, indicating that the children may have been awakened by the fire and had gone to the parents bedroom. Sparks from the burning home started a grass fire which covered about 20 acres. It was brought under control by two trucks and crewmen from the conservation headquarters in Washburn under the direction of Leroy Brackett, chief ranger. Mr. Maciejewski is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Fabian Carpenter and Mrs. Richard Peterson of Ashland and a brother Ted Maciejewski of Spokane, Washington. Mrs. Maciejewski is survived by her Mother, Mrs. Alice Carpenter, Ashland and three sisters, Mrs. Eugene Blaszkowski, Ashland, Mrs. Ted Planin, Milwaukee, and Mrs. John Strom, Madison.
